Water Resources Development Act of 2026

The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) is essential to everyday life in America. Projects authorized within WRDA bills are critical to ports and harbors, to protecting homes, businesses, and families from floods, and to restoring and protecting national ecological treasures.

Since 2014, Congress has proven that bipartisan WRDAs can be developed and passed on a regular basis because of their critical importance to all 50 states, territories and Tribal nations. Last Congress, the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024 was signed into law. With its enactment, WRDA 2024—the sixth WRDA in a row to move since 2014—continued the bipartisan tradition of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to move a new WRDA every two years to respond to local water resource needs.

The passage of WRDA 2026 this Congress marks a continuation of this bipartisan streak. Meanwhile, our committee is working to ensure that WRDA 2024 is fully implemented as Congress intended.
