Dear Chairmen and Ranking Minority Members:
As you complete the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Appropriations bill and begin drafting the FY 2018 THUD Appropriations bill, we request that you fund the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) (P.L. 114-94) programs at the authorized funding levels. The FAST Act Conference Report passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support by a vote of 359 to 65. In addition, on February 28, 2017, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure adopted its FY 2018 Budget Views and Estimates, which specifically recommended that the Budget Resolution reflect authorized funding levels of the FAST Act.
We urge you to include full funding of the FAST Act in the FY 2017 and FY 2018 THUD Appropriations bills.
Thank you for your consideration. Should you have any questions, please contact the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure majority staff at (202) 225-9446, or the minority staff at (202) 225-4472.
Sincerely,
Bill Shuster Peter A. DeFazio
