Chair DeFazio Announces Full Committee Hearing Next Week with Transportation Secretary Buttigieg

Washington, DC - Today, Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) announced a Full Committee hearing titled, “The Administration’s Priorities for Transportation Infrastructure.” During this hearing, Committee Members will have an opportunity to discuss the Biden administration’s priorities with Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, who is scheduled to appear virtually.

In announcing this hearing, Chair DeFazio said: “Secretary Buttigieg’s appearance before the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee couldn’t come at a more consequential time. Right now, our Committee is working on the details of transformational surface transportation reauthorization legislation that I intend to move through our Committee later this spring as part of the broader infrastructure push. The time to go big and bold on our Nation’s crumbling infrastructure has arrived, and I’m ready to turn our conversations with Secretary Buttigieg, as well as President Biden and Vice President Harris, into action to finally bring our infrastructure out of the Eisenhower Era.

“To that end, I encourage Secretary Buttigieg to eat his Wheaties next Thursday morning. The Members of my Committee are looking forward to a robust discussion about the priorities of the Secretary and the Biden administration and learning more about how we can work together to deliver for the American people.”

Members will appear by videoconference or in person in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Additional details, including a livestream, can be found here once available. The hearing will be livestreamed through the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s YouTube page.
