Chairs DeFazio, Larsen Announce Aviation Subcommittee Hearing on Safety

Washington, DC- Today, Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Chair of the Subcommittee on Aviation Rick Larsen (D-WA) announced the Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled “State of Aviation Safety.” The hearing will gather government and stakeholder perspectives on the state of aviation safety, including identifying current challenges facing the aviation system and actions needed to maintain and ensure the safety of the traveling public.

The Subcommittee will hear testimony from:

Paul Njoroge, On Behalf of the Families of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302,

Husband of Carolyne Karanja, Father of Ryan Njuguna, Kelli Pauls, Rubi Pauls, and

Son-in-Law of Anne Karanja, Victims of Flight ET302

Dana Schulze, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)

Captain Joe DePete, Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA)

Lori Bassani, The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA)
