Chairs DeFazio, Larsen Celebrate Investment in Airport Terminals Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Chair of the Subcommittee on Aviation Rick Larsen (D-WA) issued the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced yesterday $1 billion to be made available for airport terminal development projects in fiscal year 2022. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which DeFazio led to passage in the House, provides a total of $5 billion for the FAA’s Airport Terminal Program over the next five years.

“As air travel rebounds from the tumult of the pandemic, this announcement of $1 billion in long-overdue funding for terminal upgrades is welcome news,” the Chairs said. “These investments will increase capacity, expand accessibility for people with disabilities, reduce our carbon footprint, and improve airfield safety, all while creating good-paying jobs. Airports are critical to commerce, our supply chains, and everyday life—helping both passengers and businesses alike thrive. Thanks to President Biden and Congressional Democrats, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is strengthening our aviation infrastructure and helping ensure we remain competitive in the 21st century economy.”
