Chairs DeFazio, Napolitano Announce Roundtable on Harmful Algal Blooms

Washington, DC - Today, Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Chair of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment Grace F. Napolitano (D-CA) announced that the subcommittee will hold a roundtable titled, “Local Perspectives: Combating Harmful Algal Blooms in the Garden State.” During this roundtable, which will take place in Rep. Tom Malinowski’s (D-NJ) district, the subcommittee will hear from state and local stakeholders at New Jersey’s largest freshwater lake and their experiences following a harmful algal bloom outbreak in 2019. They will discuss ways to clean up the current algal bloom outbreak and prevent future ones from taking place.
