Washington, D.C. —Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Public Buildings, Economic Development and Emergency Management Greg Stanton (D-AZ), Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) sent a letter to Acting Special Council Jamieson Greer outlining their concerns over the Trump administration’s continued retaliation against Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) workers who blew the whistle on Agency wrongdoing.
“On August 25, 2025, more than 190 FEMA employees outlin[ed] the ways Trump administration officials are putting lives at risk by undermining FEMA’s ability to perform disaster response and recovery,” the Members wrote.
“On November 25, 2025, the FEMA employees who had been placed on administrative leave were correctly reinstated,” the Members continued. “On December 1, 2025, the employees were again placed on administrative leave without any new evidence of wrongdoing.”
“We expect that the Office of Special Counsel will find clear evidence of whistleblower retaliation, reinstate the FEMA employees, and pursue disciplinary action against all officials who retaliated against them,” the Members continued.
The Members concluded by demanding an investigation into this retaliation with subsequent recommendations for FEMA and DHS.
