Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall, top Democrat on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today released the roster of Committee Democrats for the 113th Congress which includes 10 new members compared to the current Congress. Democrats are gaining an additional seat on the Committee in the new Congress which will bring the ratio of Republicans to Democrats to 33-27.
“I would like to welcome a dynamic, regionally balanced, group of new Members of the Committee who are well suited to work on transportation and infrastructure issues,” said Rahall. “Combined with the broad experience and knowledge of the Committee’s current members, the Committee Democratic Caucus is now primed and ready to tackle the many pressing issues that will be on the agenda in the new Congress.”
The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over the Nation’s highways, railways, airports, seaports, bus lines, and pipelines, as well as the Economic Development Administration, Appalachian Regional Commission, Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and other crucial economic development programs.
