Washington, D.C. — Following the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee hearing on pipeline safety, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement applauding investments made under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed in 2021 and their importance as we prepare to reauthorize pipeline safety programs.
"Today the Subcommittee discussed many ways we can improve the safety of pipelines through a reauthorization of pipeline safety programs. Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’ve already taken the first step and communities around the country will now have $1 billion to repair or replace natural gas pipelines and improve safety,” Ranking Member Larsen said.“These Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization dollars will go a long way towards upgrading our public pipeline infrastructure, reducing incidents and protecting neighborhoods that surround these pipelines.”
