Ranking Member Larsen Applauds Funding to Reduce Port Emissions, Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation announced $148.6 million for 16 projects through the Reduction of Truck Emissions at Port Facilities (RTEPF) grant program, which provides funding to reduce truck idling and emissions at ports and port electrification.

“By reducing truck emissions, today’s funding will reduce pollution at ports and improve air quality for communities near ports and port workers,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “In my state of Washington, the Seattle-Tacoma region will use some of the funding to incentivize deployment of up to 58 zero-emission trucks that will be used to transport freight in the region. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to create cleaner and greener infrastructure, while creating jobs, in the Pacific Northwest and across the country.
