Ranking Member Larsen Slams Proposed GOP Funding Cuts to Transportation and Infrastructure Budget

Washington, DC— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) issued the following statement after the House Appropriations Committee advanced their 2024 Departments of Transportation (DOT) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) appropriations bill.

“The partisan THUD bill that advanced out of the Appropriations Committee today is an attack on the transportation systems Americans rely on that would kill jobs and stunt the growth of our economy,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “This bill slashes funding for transit, devastates intercity passenger rail service for over 20 million riders, and eliminates sources of funding for large projects that are proving to be enormously popular and badly needed in our local communities thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. In addition, this extreme bill would tie the Department of Transportation’s hands in addressing the climate crisis. This must not become law.”
