Ranking Member Larsen Statement on Flight Cancellations and Delta Investigation

Washington, DC – Today, Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation announced an investigation of Delta Air Lines’ handling of flight cancellations stemming from last week’s CrowdStrike technology outage.

“Families across the country are still stranded at airports due to last week’s global technology outage, and the slow response by some airlines to this meltdown has been unacceptable,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “I support the U.S. Department of Transportation’s investigation into Delta and will be introducing legislation to boost the operational resiliency of airlines in the near future. As a result of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, any passengers experiencing these kinds of extreme flight delays or cancellations are entitled to be made whole, and I fully expect that to happen here.”
