Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement in response to a Trump administration proposal to restrict states’ authority under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act.
“For over fifty years the Clean Water Act ensured states’ ability to protect their own waters, and I’m disappointed that the Trump administration and EPA are now proposing to reverse course,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “Under the proposal, states would lose the power to stop polluter-friendly projects and protect public health. Instead of jeopardizing clean water across the country, the Trump administration should respect the rights of each state and uphold the intent of the Clean Water Act.”
