Washington, D.C.—Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation directed its agencies to claw back awarded funding for investments in biking and walking and electric vehicle infrastructure.
“The Trump Administration’s attempt to ignore Congress and the law by slashing grants for bike and pedestrian infrastructure and EV charging is a direct attack on communities who were awarded funding to invest in safer, cleaner mobility solutions,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “This unilateral decision by USDOT is halting four years’ worth of awarded projects and undermines the federal-state-local partnership for infrastructure delivery. It is nonsensical to abandon locally-developed projects that benefit communities across the country, and I urge the Administration to reverse course.”
