Washington, D.C.—Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Aviation André Carson (D-IN) released the following statement after news that the Trump administration will be awarding $10,000 bonuses to just 800 of the more than 17,000 air traffic controllers, aviation safety technicians and inspectors that worked without pay during the government shutdown.
"Over 17,000 air traffic controllers and aviation safety workers tirelessly kept travelers and our airspace safe during the longest government shutdown in history—all without getting paid," the Members said. "For the Trump administration to not give a bonus to every single one of these hardworking women and men is wrong; they all deserve a bonus and back pay."
