Ranking Members Larsen, Carbajal Reaffirm Opposition to Jones Act Waiver and Extension

Washington, D.C. — Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transport Salud Carbajal (D-CA) released the following statement after the Trump administration extended its Jones Act waiver.

“For decades, the bipartisan Jones Act has supported American jobs and manufacturing in the maritime industry," Ranking Members Larsen and Carbajal said. "By extending the current Jones Act waiver for another 90 days, the Administration continues to threaten national security, economic security and American maritime jobs. Recently, Russian mariners were found operating in U.S. waters as a result of the Jones Act waiver. We repeat: the Administration must reverse this waiver to protect our maritime workforce."
