Ranking Members Larsen, Norton Applaud $1.5 Billion for Clean Buses, Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) released the following statements after the Federal Transit Administration announced nearly $1.5 billion in grant funding from the Bus and Bus Facilities and Low- and No-Emission Bus programs for 117 projects across the country.

“From Juneau to Ann Arbor to Cape Cod, this funding allows communities to buy greener buses and create jobs, resulting in cleaner air, more livable communities and greater access to economic opportunity,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “In my district, this funding enables Island Transit to purchase clean buses and fueling infrastructure for its fleet. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to create jobs and invest in cleaner, greener, safer and more accessible transportation for communities across the country.”

“These grants from the Federal Transit Administration will help Americans across the country by promoting climate-friendly public transportation,” Ranking Member Norton said. “Increasing the availability and convenience of green public transit options will improve communities and lives by allowing families across the country access to cleaner alternatives at the same low cost of standard public transportation.”
