Ranking Members Larsen, Norton Statements on “Game-Changing” RAISE Grants, Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) released the following statements after the U.S. Department of Transportation announced over $1.8 billion in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grants for 148 projects across the country. These grants provide funding for projects with significant local or regional impact.

"Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, communities in the Pacific Northwest and across the country have the resources they need to build resiliency in the face of climate change, improve quality of life, create more jobs and enhance economic competitiveness,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “In my district, these funds will enable the Port of Bellingham to modernize its shipping terminal and the Tulalip Tribes to improve roadway safety. Across the country, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to build cleaner, greener, safer and more accessible transportation nationwide.”

"The funding provided by RAISE grants, part of President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is critical to upgrading our nation's roads, rail and transit systems, including in the nation's capital," Ranking Member Norton said. "In D.C. the funding will go towards bicycle, and pedestrian improvements, including accessibility enhancements and traffic signal upgrades. I'm pleased DOT has announced these grants for similar projects across the country."
