Ranking Member Larsen Applauds Northeast Corridor Rail Investments Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Washington, D.C.— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) applauded the announcement of more than $16 billion in funding for 25 rail projects across seven states and the District of Columbia. This funding, part of the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) Northeast Corridor Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail (FSP-NEC) grant awards, can be used to reduce repair backlogs, improve performance, and expand or establish new intercity passenger rail service.

“The Northeast Corridor plays a critical role in fueling the nation’s economy and connecting communities across the region,” Ranking Member Rick Larsen said. “Today’s FRA funding enables intercity passenger rail in the Northeast Corridor to improve its performance and efficiency in getting people where they need to be. The investments made in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continue delivering for Americans, creating safer, cleaner, greener, and more accessible rail systems.”
