Washington, D.C. — Today, Chair of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Dina Titus (D-NV) announced Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH) will serve as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management in the 117th Congress. The subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes, but is not limited to, the authorization and oversight of federal real estate programs, measures relating to the Public Buildings Service (PBS) of the General Services Administration (GSA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) activities relating to disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, as well as programs relating to first responders.

“Since coming to Congress, Representative Pappas has proven to be an effective advocate for the people of New Hampshire and across our country,” Chair DeFazio said. “I fully trust that he will bring strong leadership in this new role as the subcommittee works to advance legislation that will better prepare communities to both withstand and quickly recover from natural disasters, and foster economic growth in communities across the U.S., both big and small.”

“I want to congratulate Congressman Pappas on becoming Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management,” Chair Titus said. “Over the next two years, he will be a close partner in the effort to boost local economies, build resilient infrastructure, and oversee FEMA’s emergency response. I especially look forward to working with him throughout the process of drafting the American Jobs Plan. Together, we will help create millions of new jobs, update and improve our infrastructure, and bond over our shared Greek heritage.”

“As we recover from the pandemic and rebuild our transportation systems and infrastructure in a green and resilient way, I am honored to have a seat at the table as the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management,” Congressman Pappas said. “I look forward to working with Chairs DeFazio Titus and all my colleagues to ensure our districts have the resources they need to build safe, healthy, and vibrant communities.”
