Ranking Member Larsen Applauds $1 Billion for Roadway Safety, Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Washington, D.C.— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced over $1 billion in funding for 354 projects through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program.

“Communities across the country need resources to make roadways safer and more accessible for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “Last year, traffic fatalities in my home state of Washington climbed to a 33-year high. Today’s funding for seven projects across the state will deliver those resources, protect lives and prevent roadway tragedies. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to keep people and the economy moving while making our transportation cleaner, greener, safer and more accessible.”
