Ranking Member Larsen Defends Prevailing Wages Requirements for Clean Water Infrastructure Workforce

Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement defending the Davis-Bacon Act, which requires government contractors to pay locally prevailing wages for the women and men building and rebuilding America’s water and wastewater systems as a part of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

“All people deserve clean water. They also deserve good-paying, Davis-Bacon wages for building and rebuilding water and wastewater systems. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law delivers both by providing $11.7 billion for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to help communities rebuild and modernize their wastewater and stormwater infrastructure while continuing to require Davis-Bacon wages—a decades old requirement. As communities embark on a new era of water infrastructure projects, we need union jobs to build our economy from the bottom up and middle out.”
