Ranking Member Larsen Statement on Kennedy Center Board Meeting

Washington, D.C.—Today, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement about the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts’ board meeting.

”Today, I participated in the Kennedy Center Board’s Meeting where the Board voted to seek a stay of and appeal the Court’s ruling rejecting the Board’s attempt to change the name of the Center,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “I voted against this motion because, as the Court rightly found, only Congress has the authority to name or rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I look forward to putting these distractions behind us and focusing on supporting the arts and the future of the Center.”
