Washington, D.C.—Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) released the following statement after U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and House Republican leadership tried blaming Democrats for the Republican healthcare crisis and ensuing government shutdown.
“Thank you to the thousands of air traffic controllers across the nation who are continuing to do their jobs and keep the traveling public safe,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “This morning's press conference was nothing more than another meager attempt by Republicans to distract from the fact that they'd rather stop paying air traffic controllers and other essential safety workers than fix the Republican health care crisis and end the shutdown. Democrats are focused on protecting travelers’ safety and are ready to work with Republicans to reopen the government whenever they are ready to get serious.”
