Washington, D.C.— Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) for awarding over $172 million for 257 projects through the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program, which helps communities develop strategies to prevent roadway fatalities and injuries.
“More than 40,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes on American roads last year, which is unacceptable; today’s funding will help 44 states and territories work to minimize future crashes by making roads safer and more accessible,” Ranking Member Larsen said. “In my District, the City of Everett received funding to develop a plan to evaluate and implement appropriate speed limits, and the Samish Indian Nation received funding to develop a safety action plan to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities on Samish land. Funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to create cleaner, greener, safer and more accessible infrastructure.”
