Ranking Member Larsen: This is a Difficult Moment for the Kennedy Center

Washington, D.C.—Today, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) sent a letter to the President and General Counsel of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Ambassador Richard Grenell and Elliot Berke expressing concern over the tumultuous direction the Kennedy Center has taken and the lack of transparency provided by the Administration.

“It is your responsibility to oversee the Kennedy Center, ensure transparency with Congress and spend public money ethically, appropriately and effectively. That is not what Congress and the public are seeing right now.” Ranking Member Larsen wrote.

“It is my hope that you leave the Kennedy Center, which belongs to the nation and is a memorial to President Kennedy, better than you found it,” he continued.

Ranking Member Larsen made clear he plans to conduct thorough oversight over construction at the Kennedy Center and will request a workplan, tour and quarterly progress updates.
