Washington, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management Greg Stanton (D-AZ) released the following statement after President Trump fired Kristi Noem from her role as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
“Under new leadership, the Department of Homeland Security should reform and rebuild FEMA so communities are prepared for future disasters, release frozen disaster aid and reevaluate the use of and investment in essential U.S. Coast Guard assets,” the Members said. “Kristi Noem’s replacement can start by delivering much-needed disaster funding to communities across the county and supporting the FEMA Act—the bipartisan bill we introduced with Chairman Graves last year. We look forward to working with the next Secretary to strengthen FEMA and the Coast Guard.”
