Ranking Members Larsen and Payne, Jr. Applaud Investments in Pipeline Safety, Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Donald M. Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) applauded the announcement of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization grant awards, which provides 130 projects in 26 states with $392 million to repair, rehabilitate, or replace nearly 500 miles of old, leaky natural gas pipes.

“Pipelines are the safest, most environmentally friendly, and most economically efficient way to deliver natural gas,” the Ranking Members said. “This funding ensures pipelines remain a safe and viable method of transporting natural gas, while significantly reducing methane pollution nationwide. President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to create jobs and build cleaner, greener, and safer infrastructure for communities across the country.
